Travel Tote Bag
One of the best travel bags I’ve ever gotten has been this tote bag from Lipault Paris.
The French luggage brand is known for their soft luggage and nylon fabric travel bags. After using their large suitcase and travel tote bag for several years now, I figured it was time to do a review!
Keep reading for an in-depth look at Lipault’s Plume spinner suitcase and shoulder bag.

Lipault Luggage
Lipault was founded in 2005 and focuses on making fashionable, lightweight luggage.
They make everything from suitcases to handbags as well as laptop bags and business carry-ons. Samsonite acquired them in 2014.
Lipault bags have a trademark look – they’re lightweight and plush, made from a slightly shiny nylon fabric that’s resistant to tears, stains and dirt.

Lipault Plume Luggage
The Original Plume Spinner suitcase that I have is extra roomy and easy to maneuver.
I chose a teal green color, but there’s a whole rainbow of vibrant colors to choose from. I’d say the brand gives off a distinctly minimalist, but luxurious vibe.
The nylon twill material is reinforced with PVC, so it’s also waterproof and tough enough to withstand airport baggage handling. I like that even the handles are padded – it makes it easy to push this around!
If you prefer a lightweight, softside suitcase, the Lipault Plume is the bag for you. It weighs less than 6 pounds and can pack flat for easy storage.

Lipault Suitcase Review
Inside, there’s one main big compartment.
It reminds me of old classic suitcases and I like that these bags can always fit nicely on hotel luggage racks, as compared to the newer ‘sandwich-style’ suitcases that are divided equally.
I don’t mind the big roomy main compartment.
There’s little to no organizational dividers, but I use packing cubes to organize my travel clothes so an open compartment is actually easier to use.
My main complaint is the soft side nature of the bag.
I worry that heavy luggage thrown on top of it might crush whatever I’m packing, so I don’t use the Lipault suitcase as often as I’d like.

Lipault Tote Bag
But I do love Lipault’s tote bags.
I’ve used this black nylon shoulder bag as my personal item on every single trip I’ve taken in the last 6 years. It’s taken an absolute beating, been shoved under airplane seats and plopped onto dusty dirt roads.
Somehow, it still looks great!
The hard-wearing, waterproof nylon fabric really hides dust and dirt well.
I usually travel with my laptop and all my camera gear and I never have to worry about them when they’re packed in here, as the bag is waterproof and quite well made.

I also love how roomy the interior is.
I can stuff a 15″ laptop, toiletry bag, Sony camera, two lenses and a jacket in here and pack this bag to the brim. The bag probably weighs 12 pounds when stuffed… but the straps support it all!
Also, I love the back pocket on the bag’s exterior. It has two zippers so it can slide over your suitcase handle, or be zipped closed to act as a quick-reach pocket for your phone or keys.
I’m so impressed with how well the Lipault tote bag has held up over the years so I think it’s great value for the price!
