I took these photos in the early morning before sunrise on Koh Samui, hoping for some pretty sunrise shots. I’m usually not much of a morning person, but we woke up early to watch the US soccer game (it was world cup season at the time) and I was in the mood to stay up for some pictures. Instead, the photos came out much more blue toned and I seem to have missed the sunrise altogether… but I think they still look pretty nifty!
To get “Blue Hour” photos, shoot during twilight, right before or after sunset, and you’ll find that noticeable blue hue in your photos. These were taken before sunrise, but for after sunset blue hour pics, check this image from the Brooklyn Botanical garden here. Not sure when sunrise and sunset will occur? There are nifty phone apps which will tell you the exact time depending on your location.

Oh wow, I miss Koh Samui so much. It’s so under the radar, not a lot of people go there. Your photos are lovely!

Thanks Sienna! It did seem like some of the other islands were more popular but I thought Samui was absolutely incredible xx
