Black Tie Wedding Guest Dresses
I’ve had a couple weddings to attend and pretty much all of them were black tie!
So I’ve done a lot of formal gown shopping and surprisingly, it’s not easy to find
- a dress you like that fits
- that’s floor length and formal enough without being… dated or costume-y
- …and won’t break the bank!
With the last bullet point being the most important lol.

Formal Wedding Guest Dresses
I’ve finally found a couple brands that I go to again and again for formal dresses, so I thought I’d make a list!
Aqua
One of my favorites for black tie dresses.
Aqua nails the fit – these black tie dresses fit like a glove while still being comfortable and easy to move in.
They also have a huge range of styles, with lots of metallic + unique colors.
The formal gowns run about $100-300, which is pretty reasonable for the quality, but they also have more casual summer day dresses and cocktail dresses!

Reiss
I just picked up this silk dress from the London brand that I really love.
Reiss is mostly known for work wear but they have a decent selection of floor length, formal dresses too!
There’s a reason Kate Middleton wore Reiss for her engagement photos.

Mac Duggal
This brand makes the most insane wedding guest dresses – something to wear to an over the top, destination wedding where you want to look really good.
I love all their beadwork, sequins, metallic and ombre prints… I just don’t love the price ha.
Mac Duggal runs a bit pricier, but the dresses are one of a kind.

Revolve
Revolve has the biggest selection of dresses. They basically specialize in them!
No matter what kind of wedding event, you’ll find something you like.
I also really like their website filters, which allow you to search by dress length, neckline, color and occasion!
The only negative I have to say about them is often their stock is low or preorder, so just browse far in advance.
