I was wandering around the West Village looking for a dinner spot and stumbled upon Jinya Ramen Bar, a sleek and modern looking LA import. We tried the corn, salmon and pork skewers and the chashu pork buns, which were grilled at the bar right in front of us. Pork buns are always a good move and these were a good balance of favor and fatty. The tonkatsu ramen was great as well but I especially enjoyed the matcha affogato dessert. It came in a set piece where the server mixed the matcha powder in front of us and poured it over a bowl of vanilla ice cream and mini pieces of red bean and mango pieces. Its the perfect end to a hearty and filling Japanese meal – not too sweet and refreshingly cold.
