Where to Stay in Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur is hot, loud, glossy, and delicious.
It's a modern, bustling city, uniquely shaped by the convergence of Malay, Chinese and Indian communities that have lived here for generations.
My friends and I visited for a week, and were lucky enough to meet up with friends who live in the capital to get a real ‘local' feel for the city.
So here's the travel guide I'd give to any friends heading to Kuala Lumpur for the first time!

Kuala Lumpur
KL (everyone calls it KL) is big, spread out and wonderfully chaotic.
Where you choose to stay can shape your trip.
While nothing is ever too far and Grabs are cheap and easy, where your hotel is located makes the difference between a 5-minute stroll…
or a 20-minute car ride
So I recommend staying in Kuala Lumpur's ‘Golden Triangle', a central zone covering the most-visited parts of the city (Bukit Bintang, Pavilion and KLCC).
Alternatively, stay in Chinatown for a more historic and budget friendly neighborhood (but slightly farther away).
The best part is: hotels in KL are affordable.
You can get a 4-5 star luxury hotel night for just a fraction of what you'd pay anywhere else in the world!
For longer term, KL has great full-service apartments, especially on Airbnb.
These are great if you want a comfortable base for longer stays or simply prefer a more private apartment with laundry!
