Best Travel Hair Dryers
Does this travel hair dryer have the right voltage to work during my vacation to Europe or Asia? Is it foldable, compact, and lightweight?
These are questions I kept asking myself when I was searching for the best travel hair dryer on the market, and I wanted to share my finds with you.
1. Best Luxury Travel Hair Dryer
Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer
While technically not a travel hair dryer, the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer, like all Dyson products, is extremely lightweight, durable, and easy to stow.
A marvel in modern technology, the Dyson hair dryer features a brushless, digital current motor that’s 5 to 6 times faster than the motors of other travel hair dryers.
The result is a lightweight (about 1.8 pounds) hair dryer that dries your hair faster than any of the best travel hair dryers out there – perfect for when you’re traveling and always have somewhere to be right away!
This luxury comes at a price, but if you travel plenty and dry your hair everyday anyway, the durability and performance of the Dyson is worth the investment!
2. Best Compact Travel Hair Dryer
BaBylissPRO Tourmaline Titanium Travel Dryer
One of the most incredibly compact and lightweight travel hair dryers anywhere on the market, the BaBylissPRO Tourmaline Titanium Travel Dryer is a perfect harmony of form and function.
With a compact cone, foldable handle, and dual voltage structure, this hair dryer can fit pretty much anywhere and work pretty much anywhere!
Plus, its titanium construction means its extremely durable – always a plus when you’re constantly packing and repacking your toiletries on vacation! Ready for the cherry on top?
The BaBylissPRO travel hair dryer is engineered to provide gentle yet super-fast drying power, meaning you get to spend more time on your vacation and less stuck in the bathroom!
3. Best Foldable Travel Hair Dryer
JINRI Foldable Hair Dryer
This dual voltage travel hairdryer from Jinri is all about power, performance, and looks – it’s the Chevrolet Corvette of travel hair dryers, basically. With a DC motor, 1875 watt power, and two heat and speed settings, the pretty travel dryer will get your hair looking perfect in next to no time!
Don’t let the massive power scare you, either – the Jinri dryer is made with a ceramic-Tourmaline air outlet grill, which keeps hair healthier and less frizzy – the twin pillar goals of any hair dryer, travel or otherwise!
As if it couldn’t get any better, the Jinri dual voltage travel hair dryer also puts its money where its mouth is by offering a no-questions-asked one year replacement and two year warranty period!
4. Best Ionic Travel Hair Dryer
Andis Fold-N-Go Ionic Hair Dryer
Besides bringing tremendous power and drying efficiency, the Andis 1875 Watt Fold-N-Go Ionic Hair Dryer brings a lightweight design and, perhaps most impressively, the latest and greatest in engineering technology.
Its ceramic construction and negative ion propulsion technology produces exceptional results in keeping hair conditioned without sacrificing any care paid to your hair’s health and no-frizz shape.
The Andis Fold-N-Go checks off all the other boxes as well, as its retractable cord (like those cool hotel irons!), foldable handle, and sleek silver-and-black finish all result in a stylish, lightweight, and incredibly effective travel hair dryer.
5. Best Lightweight Travel Hair Dryer
Revlon Compact Travel Hair Dryer
Though its light copper color may not be the most attractive design I’ve ever seen, the Revlon 1875 Watt Compact Travel Hair Dryer replaces in performance and value what it lacks in aesthetics many times over.
Its worldwide dual voltage compatibility means you can confidently throw the Revlon in your bag whether you’re traveling 10 blocks to the gym or 10 hours to your dream vacation in Europe.
Plus, the lightweight Revlon 1875 Watt travel hair dryer has anti-frizz ceramic coating with ionic propulsion, two heat and two speed buttons to go along with a cool shot feature, and includes a smoothing concentrating attachment so your hair doesn’t blow all over the place.
When you have to cough up less than $20 for all these bells and whistles, you know you’re getting one of the best values anywhere on the market.
6. Best Travel Hair Dryer with Retractable Cord
Conair Vagabond Compact Folding Hair Dryer
The Conair Vagabond Compact 1600 Watt Folding Handle Hair Dryer may be the smallest travel hair dryer on this list, but remember, ladies – size doesn’t matter, it’s how you use it that counts!
Plus, the Conair’s foldable handle and lightweight frame (just 17 ounces) means this puppy can be added to pretty much any suitcase and you’ll hardly notice it’s there!
True to its vagabond namesake, the Conair comes replete with a dual voltage structure, meaning this gem of a travel hair dryer will work as hard as you to look great each morning no matter where your vacation takes you!
7. Best Frizz-Fighting Travel Hair Dryer
T3 Micro Compact Travel Hair Dryer
This portable hair dryer tops the list for most chic.
Although it’s more expensive, I love how functional the T3 micro travel hair dryer is – I can dry my hair in 15 minutes and it weighs nothing, so my arms don’t get tired. Meanwhile, the foldable handle and quiet settings make this hair dryer ideal for travel.
There are just 2 settings, high and low, so if you want specific temperature control you might be disappointed. There is a cool setting though, which makes my hair so nice and shiny and is great when you want to “set” your blow dry.
Another nice feature is that you can just slide the ‘cool’ button up; you don’t have to hold it down like with some hair dryers.
Finally, the T3 micro comes with its own travel tote bag, a 9 foot cord and cord wrap for travel storage. You can purchase a T3 diffuser attachment separately as well.
Overall, this is my pick for best travel size hair dryer for its sleek looks and compact functionality. I have to admit it totally blows most budgets out of the water but I know it will last for ages. It also comes with a 2 year warranty.

9. Best Salon-Quality Travel Hair Dryer
Chic Republic Ionic Hair Dryer
A recent trend among the best travel hair dryers is to install salon-quality hair drying in a compact and easy-to-carry hair dryer.
Introducing the Chic Republic Ionic Hair Dryer, which features both ionic and ceramic technology that, respectively, help reduce static and reinforce your hair’s natural shine.
The Chic Republic also comes with a dizzying array of features, including 2 airflow options, 4 heat settings, and 2 separate nozzles. No matter what style you sport, the Chic Republic Hair Dryer will ensure you never have a bad hair day while traveling!
10. Best Travel Hair Dryer for Any Hair Style
Hot Tools Ionic Travel Dryer
The Hot Tools Ionic Travel Dryer is, predictably, pretty hot right now.
By now you’re probably pretty familiar with the wonders of ionic hair drying which, using technology I definitely did not learn in high school science, helps minimize static and therefore reduces the frizz associated with hair drying.
The Hot Tools also earns its place among the best travel hair dryers with its nifty bonus features, including a turbo motor, cool shot button, concentrator, and finger diffuser attachments.
This hair dryer also comes with a durable collapsing folding handle, so you’ll never have to waste carry-on space to make sure you look great on the go!
11. Best Dual Voltage Travel Hair Dryer
Conair 1875 Watt Dual Voltage Compact Hair Dryer
It may not be the adorable Baby Buttercup feautured above, but trust me – the Conair 1875 Watt Dual Voltage Compact Hair Dryer is every bit as cute and effective.
The Conair travel hair dryer offers 2 heat settings, a cool shot button to lock in your style, and a dual voltage functionality that will work across the world.
Plus, at a price cheaper than 2 salads from Sweetgreen, the Conair is a smart and valuable investment!
How Do I Know if My Hair Dryer is Dual Voltage?
Checking the voltage settings of your travel hair dryer is incredibly important. Improper settings can lead to damaged equipment and even personal injury in certain cases.
The United States typically uses lower voltage (110-120 volts) than Europe and other counrtries (220-240 volts).
Check the power label of your travel hair dryer. If you only see one voltage listed, that means you have a single voltage travel hair dryer.
Of course, this doesn’t mean you can’t use this travel hair dryer abroad, it just means you’ll need a great travel adapter to convert the voltage!
If the power label has 2 voltages listed, congrats! You have a dual voltage travel hair dryer, and you can safely use it anywhere on the globe. Just double check the voltage settings, which usually require manual switching.
