You know that saying “in like a Lion and out like a lamb”? Well, this March 2017 was the reverse! The month started off slow and exploded towards the end.
March 2017 Recap
Visiting Israel
I visited Israel for the first time and ate my way through Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, Galilee, Nazareth and Caesaria. It was such a fantastic introduction to the Middle East and I will have some posts up about the trip soon. As I’m not religious, the trip mostly centered around food and I can’t believe it took me this long to experience Israeli cuisine. It was mind-blowingly good and I didn’t want to miss out on anything so it felt like we ate practically every hour. Ha.
Edit: my post about the 10 Israeli foods you have to try is now up ! it’s a massive one, covering restaurants, markets and everything food related in tel aviv / jerusalem / haifa.
Macys Carnival
Speaking of food, this past weekend I went to a fun spring carnival event at Macy’s in Herald Square. Every spring, the Macy’s throws an epic spring carnival at their store locations all across the country, complete with gorgeous flower displays and a series of fun events.
I attended a cooking demonstration by Gina Homolka (of the blog Skinnytaste) where she shared tips and recipes from her newest Fast and Slow cookbook. She showed us how to make blueberry pie using a slowcooker and it looked so simple that I’ll be attempting it at home. Her cookbook also has a recipe for slow cooker flourless chocolate brownies which sounds so intriguing.
The event was fun and pretty packed, held on Macy’s 8th floor. Everyone who attended received a $10 Macy’s gift card as well which was a really nice gesture.
Macys x Yigal Azrouel
After the event, I browsed the rest of the home and kitchen department while they handed out tasty bites and held a book signing. I had fun checking out all the different Nespresso machines and have been thinking of getting one. I used to be a bit of a snob about ‘good’ coffee but the Nespresso pods make a surprisingly great cup of espresso! Anyway, I’m really keen on getting one since there’s zero cleanup and I hate to clean.
Afterwards I did a little shopping. It’s been SO long since I’ve shopped in store that I was pleasantly surprised to find that Macy’s has different lighting options in the dressing rooms – you can adjust from office lighting (regular lights) to outdoor (cooler, whiter light) to nighttime lighting (warmer, yellower light).
I tried on this matching blouse and skirt set and immediately loved it. It’s a little bit of a bolder look for work but I love how slimming the skirt is and the print is a little Alfred Hitchcock but I really like it. Yigal Azrouel designed a capsule collection exclusively available at Macys and most items in store were already sold out of my size. I also love this lace fit and flare dress and this wide-legged jumpsuit. Give me a good one piece any day!!
Check out the full calendar of Macy’s events here and make sure to sign up for the next. All the events are free and I’ll be attending more events myself over the next couple months. Hope to meet some of you there!

A huge thank you to Macy’s for sponsoring this post!
Sher,
These garments are just fabulous! I don’t blame you for eating a lot in Israel – I tried to do the same. Even hummus feasts are so scrumptious!
