It is a lovely place to discover, beautiful walkways along the the marina, the historic center is pretty. The big problem is the presence of the africans,, all young men with Iphones and trendy clothing, certainly not refugees, lurking around everywhere, day and night, breaking into UK cars, if they are big enough to try to get to England. They are squatting around every corner, littering , urinating etc. Really it is a shame.

We were getting there to eat at "La moulerie" in front of the Casino (for sea food) and get to the "Criée" early in the morning to buy fish and sea food. We managed to get everything done properly.

I really wasn't there long enough to say anything about Ouistreham itself - I stopped briefly in Caen on the way and I certainly enjoyed the old half-timbered houses in the centre. The Castle will be a must see on my next visit, as will the beautiful old Norman/Romanesque churches and the nearby coastline, such as nearby-Dives-sur-Mer, where I stayed on a previous trip to Normandy and I can certainly recommend with its ancient church. Falaise Castle, said to be the castle of William the Conqueror, is the far side of Caen.

We have been here 20+ times as it is our twin town. The beach is lovely, the town is pleasant and we always have a good time. We stayed here in the hotel for one night after a trip further south and chose the Hotel du Phare because of its position. It is a typical, old style French hotel. The drains smell was off putting: the breakfast was good and the staff excellent.

Be prepared to walk a lot, so comfy shoes a must, I did find out on my last day that you can hire push bikes at the beach per hour, which is great because Ouistreham and it’s surrounding are quite big, the beaches are spotless and very impressive as is the history surrounding the area, I would say the area is very geared up for French tourism, so a basic grasp of French is a good idea, as most menus, and staff only speak French, having said that, there are plenty of English speaking people around in case your struggling !!

The resort was a surprise, because we expected just the port...
The resort was a surprise, because we expected just the port, but when we went for a wander around after driving up from Guidel Plages we found the enormous long sandy beach and all the amenities. It’s obviously hugely popular on warm days and stretches for miles. Many of the 2nd WW beaches are within easy reach. This might not be the prettiest place, but it has a lot more going for it than we had expected.
We’ve stayed here frequently and written reviews before. The hotel was as good as always: clean, comfortable, convenient, with friendly staff. We arrived by car late afternoon and had easy access to the hotel, enjoyed a walk into the port to have dinner and slept well before catching the morning ferry to the UK. When we return to France, we will do it in reverse: as always, appreciating the proximity of the hotel to the ferry port and looking forward to a good night’s sleep followed by an excellent breakfast before we set off home.
This is a budget hotel which is very convenient for the Ouistreham ferry and easy to find with free on-street parking and a large car park opposite. It was cheap and basic. Beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The shower (room 17) seemed new and worked very well and soap and shower gel were provided. For a one-night stay when arriving on the evening ferry, it was fine. I doubt if I'd stay longer. Breakfast was served in the adjoining restaurant which, again, was basic but adequate.
Hotel de la Plage was perfectly located for the start of our La Velo Francette Cycle Route. The Hotel has a lovely terrace frontage, where breakfast could be taken. The Hotel is just a few minutes walk from the beach, sea front and numerous restaurants. The hotel is quiet and in a quiet residential location. Our bedroom was compact and a little basic, but adequate for our stay. The Hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
No facilities that I could see. The room was very small, the bed super uncomfortable with two very small pillows which looked like they belong in a cot. The shower room was tiny and the toilet inadequate due to the number of attempts it took to flush the thing. Only thing this hotel has going for it is it's proximity to the ferry port.
unfortunately i didn't have time for breakfast as i was catching the early ferry, the beds and room facilities were perfect for what i needed. I was travelling by motorcycle from Tours to Ouistreham to catch the ferry at 8.00 am. Perfect hotel for ferry and a very good nights sleep!!!! basic but very clean, excellent value for money
It was very quiet and clean, we relaxed a lot in the pools and me and mg mother enjoyed the different treatments. I really loved the relaxing massage although it’s only 25 minutes. The hotel is located in front of a big beach which allows for long and nice walks. Breakfast was really good with lots of choice.
Room, AC, and comfort was just enough.
The fact that we could not get a meal as a resident, as the Best Western did not own the restaurant, was not advised to us, so could not eat there and had to make other arrangements, nearest restaurant was nearly 1 k away.
This will prevent me using this hotel again
Friendly, family run hotel with a great location, within very easy reach of the beach, centre ville and the ferry port. Clean, comfortable and (English speaking) friendly staff. Perfect for an overnight stay before catching ferry or a great base to explore Ouistreham and its environs.
The hotel was very easy to find and only a very short drive from the ferry port. Parking was easy easy to find and free. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The room had everything we needed with the exception of hangers. We enjoyed the typical French breakfast in the bar.
Having a free parking place at the hotel is definitely a plus.
Also the facility had a coziness that made us feel at ease.
The personnel was bilingual and therefore really approachable to ask information regarding things to do in the area. They were very polite and accommodating.
The room was beautiful and clean. There is a real family-business sense about the place and service was good and was very personalised. The hotel was full of charm and I would definitely recommend on balance. Very relaxed but attentive customer service.
Nothing. It was so horrendous that we stayed for about half an hour before deciding the situation was unsalvagable, and we left and got a room at a nearby hotel. This us a terrible accomodation for someone who's got to catch an early ferry.
Friendly and helpful staff. Good value breakfast. Nice, clean and modern room with hot drinks supplied. Good location for exploring Ouistreham or the wider region. Close to the ferry terminal and town centre with good restaurants nearby.
We were made to feel very welcome and we had an excellent meal. Everything was spotlessly clean. Our room was very quiet and there was no disturbance at all from other hotel guests, unlike some other places we have stayed.
Great location for the ferry, lovely to have adjoining rooms for the kids. A few restaurants nearby and a short walk to the beach and the centre of Ouisterham which also has shops and restaurants.
I booked this hotel just for its location to the Ferry port I was booked on the first Ferry to Portsmouth the next day.
breakfast and accommodation all good friendly staff spoke English.
Excellent location, easy walk from the port. Very clean facilities, friendly staff and very convenient if arriving late from the ferry. It met all our needs.
