Best of Everlane – A Review of Hits, Misses & Favorite Pieces

I love Everlane’s pima cotton range.

They make simple tops in all different colors and neckline styles, from crew to turtleneck to v neck, and in both long sleeve, tank and bodysuit options.

I picked up the first Pima micro rib long sleeve on a whim, and was so impressed with how soft and comfortable it was that I have them now in almost every color and length!

They’re a body hugging fit but not too clingy or tight. I usually wear them tucked into jeans like Everlane’s straight jeans, with some jewelry and heels for going out to dinner. Or in winter, I’ll layer them under thick wool sweaters as a cozy base layer. 

You can’t go wrong with these – they’re such a versatile basic!

I never used to wear t-shirts until I got some from Everlane.

They’re simple, comfortable and go with everything. I like their fitted, body hugging tees tucked into trousers and I also like their cropped pocket tees worn with leggings and a hat for going on long walks or working out.

The brand offers tees in pretty much every style, softness level and fabric at fair prices so I recommend checking them out!

All of my tees have held up really well in the wash over the years too. I haven’t noticed any stretching of the collars and the colors still look vibrant and fresh.

Everlane is famous for their affordable cashmere.

Out of all the cashmere sweaters they make, my favorite are the tees. They’re simple, elegant and strike the perfect balance between cozy but not too warm.

I also like how they match with anything! I’ve worn them with silky slip skirts, jeans + knee high boots and skirts with leather jackets.

And because they’re short sleeves, I never have any issue with itch (sometimes I do with long sleeved sweaters).

I love cozy oversized shirts in winter – especially henleys. 

Everlane makes some great henleys and usually I shop the men’s section for the perfect oversized fit. I have ribbed tees, cashmere versions and thick slubby cotton ones.

They’re always so cozy to lounge around the house in or wear to sleep. And henleys also look cute when worn out with some skinny jeans and shearling boots!

A couple years ago, I could not understand the hype around mom jeans and baggier styles of denim.

My, things have changed.

It took hundreds of pairs of jeans to try on, but I finally found a pair of non-skinny jeans that actually look good – the Everlane Cheeky Jeans.

The pants hug the waist and butt but loosen to a tapered straight leg style that looks good with any type of shoe. They’re high-waisted enough to wear with crop tops… but somehow still flattering when worn with with giant oversized sweatshirts.

I also love the range of colors and inseams that Everlane offers. Try them out and see if you don’t make the switch to straight leg jeans too!

I love trench coats and Everlane makes a truly classic style.

The Drape Trench has double breasted buttons, a slightly oversized fit and handy side pockets. It’s made from a lightweight, breathable fabric that drapes and sways as you walk and it’s incredibly soft and comfortable to wear.

I wear the jacket all the time – as a layering piece over a simple white button down and jeans, as well as to dress up a slightly sloppy outfit, like a sweat suit set with dad sneakers.

It’s so easy to pair with anything in your existing closet and it’s held up really well after a couple years of wear.

I love the deep blue-green of this cami.

It’s pretty enough to wear on its own or under a cardigan for work. The material isn’t what you’d expect  from traditional silk, as it’s made with safer dyes in a more energy efficient factory.

Everlane calls it ‘clean’ silk – I find that it has a slick coating like feel to the material, while still retaining that delicate, sleek drapey-ness.

I also love that it’s not sheer. 

The only downside is the pretty spaghetti straps are not adjustable. Since I have a very short torso, I sized down 1-2 sizes so the front wouldn’t be too low cut. But I’d say it fits true to size for most!

I love a simple button down shirt.

I’ve tried quite a few from Everlane, like their linen long sleeve and their silky work shirt.

They’re all really great quality at a solid price point and I’ve gotten a ton of wear out of them – they’re great for the office, as cover ups to the beach, and as a go-to outfit on weekends where you just walk around running errands or window shopping. 

I have a couple short sleeve blouses from the brand, like this boxy linen shirt. It’s the perfect thing to wear in sticky humid summers and it goes with pretty much everything.

This crewneck sweater has a modern classic design.

Made from what Everlane calls Grade-A Mongolian cashmere, it features a ribbed knit design and rounded collar. I find it very easy to wear, as it’s a mid-weight thick sweater that’s quite warm when layered over a base layer, yet thin enough to wear under a fall jacket.

But, after a couple months of wear, I can already tell it needs some de-fuzzing. And I don’t find this to feel as luxurious as real cashmere, so I think it’s a bit expensive for the price.

I love the soft pale pink color of this cardigan!

Made from a blend of alpaca, nylon and wool, it’s a gorgeous thin knit with slightly ballooned sleeves that taper.

Personally, I think you need to wear something underneath, but if your skin is not as sensitive you might get away with wearing this on its own.

Love the chunky buttons and soft collar. I don’t find it to be a particularly cropped fit, but I also do have a petite torso.

ReNew Teddy Liner 

in Oatmeal

I wore this fleece to death on my Southern road trip.

It’s a nice light but warm layer for cool fall days and it doesn’t wrinkle or take up much space, so it’s very easy to just throw in your bag on the go. Love the large pockets and chunky buttons. 

Most of my sweaters are white or cream, so naturally I went for the soft oatmeal color. What’s impressive is the teddy fabric is made from 100% recycled polyester – I never would have guessed from how soft the fabric feels! 

Fit wise, I’d say it has a relaxed, casual fit that layers well over henleys and long sleeve tees.

Everlane is known for their over sized blazers and this new version for Fall 2019 is really nicely made, with a fully lined, heavyweight wool fabric.

The fit is very oversized, and looks great dressed up or down. I especially love: the plaid, the boxy shape, the warm fall tone and the deep pockets.

I do find it slightly odd that it only closes with one button, but this is the kind of blazer that (imo) looks best open, so it doesn’t bother me.

Everlane Denim Short

Everlane’s classic denim shorts on the other hand, I really like.

These shorts are still a ‘mom’ jean fit, with a high raise fit and longer length. What I like is that you can un-cuff the shorts to expose the ragged hem or roll them for a more polished look.

I got the dark blue denim last summer and wore them so often I decided to get the white this year. They work with basic t shirts, crop tops, body suits… everything!

I probably should have sized up. Let’s just say these are not the shorts I wear when I’m going out to eat.

Straight Leg Crop

After loving the wide legged crop, but disliking the straight jean, I was curious if I could find a middle ground. Enter, Everlane’s straight leg crop.

These pants are perfection!

Everlane combined the best of all its pant styles: a soft but broken-in fabric; a huge variety of inseams and colors and the universally flattering crop length. I can’t say enough good things.

I wear these in all seasons and especially love how the white is not see through.

Everlane makes gorgeous backpacks that transition perfectly from a commute to a vacation. 

I bought one of the first iterations, with a snap closure, that has held up to some extensive travel and weekly abuse. Its much roomier than it looks! 

The ReNew version is an upgrade, as it’s water resistant and made from 100% recycled polyester. It features an exterior laptop pocket, interior slip pockets, 2 side water bottle holders and a magnetic closure to hold everything you need – in one bag!

What I really like is the pass through strap that allows you to slide the backpack right over a carry on bag.
