Conrad Koh Samui

Staying at the Conrad Koh Samui was an incredible dream that I never wanted to wake up from. A beautiful suite at the end of a hilly cul de sac, our own private infinity pool, and a view of the ocean – what more is there to paradise? We had just finished a week of pretty intense sightseeing through Bangkok, Ayutthaya, Sukhothai and Chiang Mai, gotten burned by the glaring Thai summer sun and chased by packs of wild dogs and nothing was more welcome than this simple retreat.

Although it occasionally thunderstormed during our stay, nothing could dampen our excitement to be in Samui. Our days were spent in pure relaxation, watching movies from the pool and suntanning. We also took a day trip to the hotel’s nearby private island and had fun snorkeling and exploring the island. I highly recommend staying at the Conrad if you’re ever in Koh Samui – it’s the perfect tranquil place to relax 100% and bask in luxury!

Each villa has its own infinity pool and each room is set into the hill, so every room has it’s own unobstructed view of the sea. There’s also a hotel pool and hammocks on the beach if you’re inclined to head down to the main section of the resort. The fun part of staying at the Conrad was the mode of transport – anytime you leave your room, an employee will ferry you around in a golf cart for the ultimate zippy ride! (Guests are asked not to walk about, as the lanes between the villas are narrow and steep; the entire resort is essentially carved into the side of a cliff)

The only minor downside (if there is one) is that the resort is completely isolated. Don’t expect to be able to wander outside of the resort (you’ll need a car for one thing and taxi’s don’t particularly make it to the secluded resort area) so there are limited dining options. Honestly, we didn’t even mind this as the room was so spacious and the resort so beautiful that we chose to dine with a view of the sea each day. I’m usually not someone who sticks to hotel restaurants, but was delightfully surprised by how delicious the thai food was (and given how inflated Samui in general is, the prices weren’t too bad). And of course, every morning we woke up to start the day with fresh squeezed juice – guava, mango, coconut, watermelon. Ahh true paradise! (Writing this post is painfully nostalgic :) )

This resort looks so luxurious and relaxing, I don’t think I’d mind the isolation! One of my best friends is from Thailand and is always telling me how beautiful it is there.
